In his blog post, Austin explains that he is recovering from a recent knee surgery and is currently using knee crutches.

The Texas Rattlesnake felt it would be inappropriate for his character, whom Austin describes as an "Ass Kicking Machine", to appear on Raw in such a state. This is an understandable explanation for his absence, especially as Austin states that the surgery is related to injuries he picked up in the ring during his WWE career.

It was important that Stone Cold address the issue of his absence. Last night "No Stone Cold" was trending on twitter, with numerous fans claiming it was a disgrace that he was not there, directing blame towards Vince McMahon and WWE for not securing an appearance by Austin.

It shocked me to see fans accusing Vince of trying to do the show "on the cheap", considering the hefty cost that must have been incurred for all of the other returning legends.

Vince McMahon seems to have a fairly positive relationship with Stone Cold these days, so it is no surprise to find out it was nothing to do with Vince simply not offering Stone Cold enough money to appear.

It is surprising that old wrestling injuries are still giving Austin trouble, especially as a year ago he was claiming he could still wrestle for two years on a full-time basis.

It was about his health.
