This site will get you a lot of followers: http://twiends.com/ I have gotten a 1150 followers in about 3 days of using the site. You have to have i think a minimum of 5 tweets to use but that is easy to do.
This site works by people offering seeds (credits) to follow them and then you offer seeds for people to follow you. The site has a large community so getting people to follow you is not a problem.
