Some people collect and analyze tweet broadcasts of different topics that could lead to the understanding of cultural, social and political trends. This is key information for critical decision making at very high levels of government and industry.

People think it helps them because it "looks" and "feels" like real life, so they substitute real life for fake life in there... then they lose their real lives and there you go, they're addicted. Because of the loneliness and desperation that not having a real life can cause -that's for real...-. Only for that.
