you dont make it. they show up based on what the majority of people are talking about in their tweets. if you want your name to show up there, just post whatever the trending topic is, and when someone clicks on it, your name will show up.

you need to influence many accounts - trends on twitter require the "trend" to have a substantial amount of tweets and the trend needs to double within a certain amount of time say 12 hours
say bob is tweeted about 1,000 times a day everyday... then within 12 hours bob is tweeted about 2,000 times - bob would be considered a trend until something bigger came out..
