I am doing a project for school where we are given $50,000 to invest in 3 different companies. We can split the money any way we like as long as we don't give one company all of it. I need 3 companies that are and have been increasing with their stocks in the past few months.

Just because there has been an increase lately will not protect your investment. Look for steady producers. And you might want to consider ones that will be fun. Google, Virgin air---is Twitter on the board? Try looking at the forbes.com site.
