When you use something called twitter you are twitting if you want to tweet then you would use tweeter.

just think about it do that really sound rite look up what a twit is why would u be twitting ? plus a bird say tweet not twit

There are a few reasons. First, to twitter is something that happens when a lot of birds begin tweeting at once. A collective form of tweet, if you will. So each individual broadcast is a tweet. Also, twit is altrady taken in the noun form as a derogatory, so to call it twitting would not be good PR. Finally, they woudln't call the website "tweeter" since that's the term for a small speaker for high frequencies.

Twitting is generally not used.
The word are tweeting, tweets etc.

The word Twitter came from verb 'Tweet', so for obvious reasons when you use Twitter, you are Tweeting Smile
