What is the best way to celebrate when Capitalism joins Communism in the heap of failed politics? - Gnosisquest - 11-18-2012 01:00 PM

Ethan:
Capitalism did not make any countries wealthy; it made individuals in some countries stinky rich.
Norway became wealthy because they have a social capitalist system which works for all people not just the elite.

Capitalism is an 18th century concept that cannot exist in today's world. Communism is a 19th century concept that cannot exist in today's world. Mixed free-market social democracy is a hybrid system developed in the 20th century and practiced by every major nation in the world. I can't wait to see what comes next.

In ancient Egypt, the cat god, Bast, was a goddess of the home and of the domestic cat, though she sometimes took on the war-like aspect of a lioness

Just because something comes to an end, that doesn't make it a failure. Failure literally means a lack of success, and Capitalism has been very successful - it made the nations that practice it very wealthy.

Communism has been a failure, as no state that practised it has been truly communist, it's a nice concept but true communism is impossible on earth. North Korea calls it's self communist, yet it's hereditary leader lives a rich, extravagant lifestyle far beyond any of monarchs of Europe.

You won't celebrate the end of capitalism, because you won't necessarily notice it's change, or evolution into something new.

[Edit] That's a very dogmatic view, it really depends on your definition of 'wealthy'. Of course capitalism has made countries wealthy, and that is in part due to the very wealthy individuals... but then you've always had a wealthy elite. With or without capitalism.

Fact is, it does work for those living in western capitalist nations; it's how life works despite the some peoples resentment, Norway is a brilliant example of that.
