Why can't the USA have a happy medium between socialism and capitalism? - Quietcrown799 - 11-18-2012 01:01 PM

Seriously, unregulated capitalism quickly turns into "every man for himself" until the citizens get pissed off and start rioting. And socialism with no free market isn't a good situation either. So why can't the USA manage a social democracy like France -- it has a firmly regulated workforce, public healthcare, etc.

I think there were riots in France the past two weeks . . .

Socialists are never happy with their control over others. They will always want more. It is greed.

Because everytime you give the government more control, they demand more and more and more. I'll give no more without a fight.

People don't realize that government regulations are like the rules in Football, they are there to level the playing field for everyone involved. The only people against that are the one who want an unfair advantage over the rest of us.

Socialism by the federal government is un Constitutional. And States are guaranteed a republican form of government.

Take any entry level economics course and they'll tell you that the USA doesn't have a completely capitalistic society but a mix of capitalism and socialism. We just lean a bit more towards capitalism.

I think we do but the socialist want to go farther to the left...

Think about it this way,the successful countries which we consider "rich" are all capitalists too many people rely on the united states for us to move in that direction.

Even the part about having a mixed economy would scare corporations away to poor countries.

Turn on your radio news station. The French were rioting in the streets because the government raised the retirement age fro 60 to 62. This year, the retirement age in the US is 66 and not one protest. In England people rioted because the government wants to students to pay for their college educations. Oh, how awful.

There is no unregulated free enterprise, anywhere. So you cannot know what would happen if there was true free enterprise. Since there is competition, I predict that prices would be lower.

Government is the problem. Government is not the solution.
