I noticed a lot of people without a lot of photo's have over 500 followers. How is this possible? I'd like to have this too.

Perhaps all their posts interactions with other people are via private message or their posts are hidden, assuming it's possible to do these things on Instagram (which I've never heard of until now so I'm unsure how it works, but I assume it's kind of similar to Facebook and Twitter.)
My gut reaction is that you only get out what you put in.

Though its much possible to get followers by using popular hashtags but i guess they are using services like the one explained at fansbook.info
Thats the fastest way to get instagram followers faster than your friends, mind you, i tried this and works out within 24Hrs.
