They're not, in terms of dependency and compatibility. You can have democracy without free market capitalism. Those two ideologies in combination just happen to be the mold today.

But capitalism does have an affect on how decisions are made and what decisions are made. The economic/social class that a person belongs to determines their economic need, their economci ability, and both affect the kind of political decisions a person will make. It also determines how much or how little of those political decisions the person will be able to directly influence.
