How do we move beyond Socialism towards a global Capitalist order? - college_republicans_club - 11-18-2012 01:04 PM
Despite the colossal failure and utter repudiation of fundamental leftwing economic theory, in the post-Communist era many nations are still stubbornly clinging to the remnants of Marxism. Capitalism and free markets have proven to be only force that can generate wealth and prosperity, improving the lives of people. How can we hasten the end of Socialism?

The foundation of any economic system is TRUST.
Honesty, trust, reliability, accountability, honor...call it what you want, but the first step is to develop this.
Look at the former Soviet Union. Why has capitalism failed there? Because there is STILL corruption, and organized crime rules the markets.
South America? Corruption, despite abundant natural resources.
Asia? The honor advocated by the Japanese, has propelled them to the forefront. Korea and Singapore have followed suit. Yes, there is corruption, but the more honorable the system, the more prosperous.
In America, we need to weed out the dishonorable and corrupt. Whether it is Ken Lay corruption or Bill Gates' monopolistic trust...we need better representatives of capitalism.

Well, for a start we can stop redistributing wealth in the form of tax credits to pollutorsand subsidies to the most profitable industries (energy). I assume you despise the ideas of government sponsored industry and as a true "college repuplican" find this administration's sponsorship of the big energy concerns and military industrial complex to be a despicable mockery of a true free enterprise system?

Socialism appeals very much to lazy people. They want to receive all the amenities of life without working. If you go back to the philosophy of Karl Marx and analyze his thinking, you will find out why? Socialism is nothing but parasitism. It is not social justice. Social justice is earning what you deserve from the degree of your labor or work. For as long as indolence is condoned and fed through political policies and promises, socialism will continue to suck the blood, sweat and tears of hardworking entrepreneurs or capitalists. Socialists in most cases do not want to learn how to fish to feed themsleves forever, but depend on the fisherman's catch
for them to distribute, all in the name of social justice.

Acually, I see more countries going to Socialism (I'm not talking the Marxism of the former Soviet Union, but the socialism of countries like the UK, Germany, France, etc.). Many of these countries left capitalism to go that way, and I expect the United States will too, one day. Why? Look at health care cost. When I retire, I will need over $250,000 just to pay health care cost (per a recent study whose name I can't remember). There's no way I will ever manage to do this. My quality of life will diminish, and I will likely have a shorter life span because of it.
Under the current administration, my lifestyle has become tighter to the point I barely make ends meet anymore. This under a conservative President/Congress? The only lifestyles improving are those of the wealthy. If anything, I don't see an end to Socialism anytime soon.
