Can your twitter account be hacked even if you deactivated your account? - Just be happy! - 11-18-2012 01:05 PM

I got a phishing email, and like a COMPLETE IDIOT I fell for it and clicked on the link, which led me to a phony site asking me to log in. Like the stupid trusting person I am, I logged in, and after getting denied, I looked it up and realized it was a SCAM! So I went and deactivated my account, but it says that my info won't actually be deleted until after 30 days... I can log back in and restart it if I want. My question is... Can I still get hacked/ have my identity stolen? I dont plan on logging back in, I am aiming at permanently deleting it. But still, can my identity be stolen? Please help, I'm really scared!!! Thank you!

Yes, and the first thing you do is change your password really quick, then remove the permission of the suspicious website that has lead your account on being hacked. You do that by going here: twitter.com/settings/applications then click revoke access on whatever site you clicked.
