Are mobile applications like twitter sms or facebook mobile free? - teerops - 11-18-2012 01:05 PM

Standard text messaging rates aside, are they free? And are they safe?

yeh, they're free (in less you load the mobile web versions of the pages, then your provider may charge you data usage) They're only as safe as you want them to be. I wouldn't go posting my phone number for the world to see.

Well as far as i know Twitter and facebook use different ways to connect a mobile phone to their networks.

Facebook mobile uses the internet to connect you to facebook, which aside from any internet charges is indeed completely free. as for safety there is two things to consider; Firstly there is safety from connecting to the internet from your phone, which tends to be as safe as making calls or sending messages. The second aspect is connecting to facebook, which is the exact same as connecting to it from the computer, so basically it is as safe as you make it.

As for twitter sms; the cost issue with this service is constantly changing at the moment. As far as i know the normal international costs applied at first, but after a while the cost to a few countries was reduced to normal costs, but this seems to have changed again. Basically unless you live in the US, Canada, India or UK expect to be paying the normal international price. Twitter SMS is very safe, so long as one of the employees there doesn't decide to hack your account Tongue

Hope this helped Big Grin
