well i think yes its hacked. not its not terrorist attack but its hacked. don't worry they will fix the prob soon rite now they shutdown their site.

Twitter was indeed attacked via DNS Hijacking. It means whenever you typed in the address twitter.com, it actually took you to another page. Twitter itself was not hacked, but it's DNS records were. This technically could be considered hacktivism. This is when a hacker attacks to promote a cause. Right now Iran is a hot bed of political activity. Some people will coin this as a cyber terrorist attack. I really just assume someone wanted to make a point.

Below is an excerpt of an update posted by Twitter:

“Twitter’s DNS records were temporarily compromised but have now been fixed. We are looking into the underlying cause and will update with more information soon.”

Hopefully they will learn to keep things a little more secure. Next time an attack may result in something worse than an hour of downtime.
