Right now the craze in marketing is social media marketing, Facebook, twitter, etc. You can start a facebook page for your shop and invite all of your friends to join. I would suggest posting free items or servies on your facebook page. Another good way to get more brand awareness is by doing a re-tweet competition on twitter. Post a contest and state that the 25th or 100th person to retweet what you tweeted gets a free item.

Also, printing fliers at kinkos and paying a few kids to distribute them could be a cheap way too. A little more mainstream than the previous suggestions.
