What is the difference between an Republican and a Democrat? - Rational Ape - 11-18-2012 01:08 PM

What are their different views and what do they stand for?

Once in Congress nothing. They pretend to have different platforms though to fool their party loyalists.

Republicans - fiscal conservatism, social conservatism, priority on the individual, deregulation

Democrats- fiscal liberalism, social liberalism, priority on equality/society, heavier regulation

Fence sitter is pretty accurate.

Republicans: Small government
Democrats: Big government

that's the main difference, although the Republicans are getting more like Democrats as each year passes!

Depends on which end of the Republican spectrum.
At one end you have originalist conservatives - about the farthest thing from a Democrat ever to walk the Earth.
At the other end you have guys who basically ARE Democrats except they aren't classless pieces of sh!t so the DNC wouldn't let them in.

Democrats are for more economic control (raising taxes), and less social control (pro choice, support same sex marriage), while the Republicans are for less economic control (supporting lower taxes), and more social control (not pro-choice, against same sex marriage).

repubs believe in smaller govt and personal responsibility
and in being tough on crime, and tough on evil in the world
but they also can get lazy in office and just do nothing as well

Demos believe in big govt, almost embracing socialism. they believe in being soft and try to be "understanding" about crime. They think being butt kissers to the world is the way to ensure safety from attacks from enemies and believe that any attacks against us somehow we invited it

The Republicans want the government in the bedroom and out of the boardroom; the Democrats want the government out of the bedroom and in the boardroom.
