What uses data on my droid incredible? - Jollyscarf884 - 11-19-2012 02:16 AM

I was just curious as to what wastes my data. Im switching to a plan where my data gets blocked after a certain amount, and would like to know what to avoid when using my phone. Help?

Some widgets use a lot of data, for example if you have a Twitter widget or a weather widget that updates fairly regularly that will eat up a good chunk of data.

When you install a new app read the permissions. If it requires internet access it will be using data at some point.

There are apps on the market such as 3G Watchdog that help you track your data usage. I believe the pro version of 3g Watchdog even turns your 3G radio off automatically once you hit your monthly limit.

Basically stay connected to wifi when available and keep track of your data usage and you should be fine. Good luck to you.
