I will not socialize my definition of socialism. If you want a definition look it up for your self and stop asking us to give it to you. LOL

Socialism is a politically correct word for slavery. You work hard but the rewards are given to the masters to divide as they see fit. Throughout history this approach has always ended up with those masters putting the largest share in their pocket while starving the actual workers who provided the wealth.

Socialism isn't that bad.

Basically, it just means that your tax dollars go to things that are outrageously expensive such as health care and maternity leave.

DEFINITION:
an economic system based on the principle that if capital voluntarily surrendered its ownership of the means of production to the state or the workers, unemployment and poverty would be abolished.

The advocacy of collective ownership of all industry for the purpose of social equality.

Socialism (noun): A system of government in which the means of production are owned by the state.

Pick up a phone book. Look in the yellow pages. Are there privately owned businesses listed? Then you are NOT in a socialist country. Privately owned means of production is capitalism, even if it is regulated and/or the government has programs available to the public.

Here's my favorite analogy: Socialism is like PE class, and capitalism is like recess. In PE, it is not your time. You are told what exercises to do, what games to play, etc. In recess, you have the freedom to play as you see fit. However, it is still monitored by school staff for the safety of everyone. You still can't beat up the minority kids, steal people's lunch money, and put dirt in the girls' hair. This infuriates the bullies who feel their right to victimize others has been violated, and that they are being unfairly constrained. This is because they are bullies, and the rest of us are glad to be rid of them, even when they cry and whine that the teachers are taking away all the fun. Likewise, adult bullies whine and cry when they can't rob their employees, discriminate against minorities, and dump toxic waste wherever they please that it's "socialism." They need a time-out.

I think Ollie pretty much covered it except for one important thing.

The Utopian schemes of levelling, and a community of goods, are as visionary and impracticable, as those which vest all property in the Crown, are arbitrary, despotic, and in our government unconstitutional. Now what property can the colonists be conceived to have, if their money may be granted away by others, without their consent? - Samuel Adams.

Here..
yes!..they are tricky~!
but..
Communism ***advocates the "collective ownership of property and the organization of labor for the common advantage of all members."

While communism is first economic system, it's also a political ideology that rejects religion. And just as communism is a form of socialism, Marxism, Maoism, and Leninism are branches of communism.

Like socialism and communism, fascism uses a central authority to maintain control, but "terror and censorship" are common. It results from economic failure in democratic political systems. Interestingly, while socialism and communism are both on the left end of the political spectrum, fascism contains elements of both "left and right ideology" and rises from economic collapse. The most famous fascist was Italian dictator Benito Mussolini. That ought to tell you it's not a good way to run a country.
Yeah..have some pasta~! Wink
lol
