ok i keep on getting message's from people on twitter some people i personally know and others i dont know and their saying people are spreading rumors bout me on twitter and has a link to it. what is this? is this spam?

Take a screenshot and post here so we can analyze it.
It is most likely a spam and the link is infected so you better don't click it.I strongly suggest you use ANOTHER COMPUTER to log into your Twitter and change the password.If you have Mac or iPad or a smartphone, use it to change the password.
EDIT: You said some of your friends sent you these things.Tell them to change their Twitter passwords(from ANOTHER computer,as I described) because THEIR Twitter has been hacked.I tried opening that link in secured sandbox environment but it gave me an error so the website admin found out about this spam and they removed it.Tell your buddies to take care of their accounts....
