can you securely use unprotected wireless internet? - Matthew - 11-19-2012 03:04 AM

is there anyway to make it secure to were i could use passwords etc without having to worry? I started a pretty popular blog but between school and work the only time i have to write it now are between classes on a public wireless access. For this i have to blog into my blog, twitter, and email but not want any of them to get hacked. If i use tor project will that make it secure? please help.

TOR will make it secure at the connection between your computer and the TOR entry point. But you have to trust the operator of the TOR exit point. Comodo's free VPN is another choice. You have to trust Comodo, but their business is all about trust.

if it's your wireless connection, most router have protection and passwrods. but how will that protect your blog?

TOR will route your data between many different computers so it's more difficult to trace but doesn't add any security that I know of.

Unless you're updating your blog using SSL I think people could still see your packets but since it's just a blog you're talking about I wouldn't be too concerned.

Windows Vista or beyond should ask you if it's a trusted area or not - if you're using Windows - so that shouldn't be a huge issue for you.

Not really.
