I replied to one of my friends on Twitter and I replied and then checked there wall the next day and nothing was there. Did they get it personally or something? HELP!!

When you reply using the "@" to anyone who is following you, they will see it immediately on their home page. If they are not following you, they will have to search their own name to see your replies.
If you are send direct messages (DM) then those are private only between the two people. You can only send DM to those who follow you and both people have to be following each other to have a DM conversation.
