Chat/chat messaging is a way in which people communicate through the internet.
kind of what I'm doing with you right now because you are communicating with me through the internet
hope that makes sense
other exmaples of places people might chat message include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, ect.
