Fashion Merchandising Student Trying to Get My Name Out In The Industry? - Felissa - 11-27-2012 06:41 AM

I am currently in college and going for my degree in fashion merchandising (right now I hold a 3.483 GPA). I want to eventually own my own boutique or styling service. So I'm working hard in school and lending out my skills as a stylist or a personal shopper...but it's hard to find clients (that pay, who aren't friends or family, that pay). I was thinking about offering my styling services to some small clothing shops for free (I dress their mannequins for free, in return I get to photograph my ensembles and if my restyling brings in more customers or increases their sales I want a short letter of reference). I'll upload my photos on Pinterest, Facebook, and create a portfolio to show potential clients. Does this sound like a good idea?
