Do you think that technology is encouraging telepathy? - ◄♥ Witchy Mel ♥► - 11-27-2012 06:41 AM

With text messaging and facebook and myspace updates and now twitter, it seems we are striving to reach instant communication. It's like we are training our brains to expect it. So how long before our brains start doing it automatically?

I have a second question which I think is very connected with this one.

Have we ever evolved for the sake of convenience...or even social acceptance or has it only ever been out of necessity?
Raji, that is a brilliant observation. We do have to read between the lines much more now. Wink

"send good thoughts to me":

I have often heard people say that the only reason we evolve is for survival and that's why people haven't or ever will be psychic in any way because it has nothing to do with survival. I don't agree with this but that is why I asked that question.

I will send good thoughts to you. Smile
TR, thank you for taking the time to answer, I would really like to give you BA but I can't this time around.

well first of all it must be noted that our brain only goes so far, telepapthy won't happen unless we artifically agument our brain to communicate with computer systems, but in that case it isn't "true telepathy" because it requires inserting electronics into the brain.

now it must also be noted that individuals DON'T evolve, populations evolve, and furthermore evolution dosn't occur at will, it requires multiple generations and selective pressures.

I don't think technology is encouraging it. I think it's the opposite in fact. They are using other communications to steer away from normal brain functions half the time. Wonder why some kids have bad grades in school? Most of them are texting class.

The only way we will ever be able to communicate telepathically would be if they implanted our brains with wireless transmitters and receivers. Our evolution has been mainly driven by necessity and some convenience to make some parts of survival easier, but not exactly for acceptance.

I believe magma is right children's minds are becoming if anything reversed of what you seem to believe I mean kids are always txting in class and we do thrive to have that connection but unfortunately technology is just slowing us down for now because the human mind needs that knowledge to stimulate the brain and we can't do that if our kids aren't paying attention

In a way. WE are constantly having to "read" our computer's mind, having to "read the mind of those with whom we communicate over the telephone, internet and other forms of communication and Media. Many times we have to read between the lines to find the base meaning to what we see and hear. So in that respect, we ARE having to learn to communicate in ways that are beyond verbal and written forms of communication.

Brightest Blessings,

Interesting view. I was born very sensitive or maybe I was this way because I spend so much time alone. But I closed down years ago & then things started happening that caused me to get back connected so while I did not use technolody I can see how this experience could be for that...In the 2nd Q, do you mean WE or as an individual..I can speak for myself. I evolved for my own convenience but I also can see how it happens out of necessity.

The part about evolving for survival is correct. Evolution is about odds over a long period of time and millions of specimens reproducing. If a particular specimen has a genetic trait, they have better odds of passing it to their offspring. That offspring has a slight chance of having those same traits, which gives them a slightly better chance to pass on their genes. Many generations later, the odds catch up with the species and all of that species has the new trait. This is adaption.

This would be a very useful skill to have to survive predators and elements 4000+ years ago.

The question we have to ask is this, would psychic abilities make it easier to pass genes on. I think with the onset of the internet, they would actually make it a little harder. The internet is a great way for people to get together, and certainly is having an effect on our species evolution. However, I believe that psychic abilities are becoming less useful for several reasons.
- Anything that can be done with a psychic ability (as far as relationships), can be done on the internet behind a shield of safety. We meet easier, can express our feeling easier, and converse with less fear of rejection.
- I think if someone knew what was going on behind the computer of the online people they were calling "friends", they might be overwhelmed and find themselves back at square one.

I am not opposed to meeting people face to face (not me personally, since I am already married), but I know for many people the internet takes a lot of edge off of meeting people. Psychic abilities would do the same thing off the internet.
All I am saying is that I think if anything we are losing psychic abilities that once were stronger, simply because we are loosing the need for them.

It may encourage it but in actuallity it is holding it back.
Not so long ago there was no other true way to communicate with another other than letters or face to face. When we interact with others it stimulates the pathways in the brain to recognize certain body features, movements, eye movement, certain voice patterns, certain thought patterns, and even electrical impluses by others such as a hug or hand shake. We are losing the natural way of communicating which in turn, causes us to only form understandings of verbal or written thought and not knowing what the other person looks like, smells like, sounds like, or what their environment is like. It takes away all that when we use too much technology. I can post a picture of myself in a nice blouse and jeans. You see the picture as with me smiling and in those colors. When you actually meet me and speak with me, your idea of how I would be, act, or react to similar situations or interactions that I have communicated via the internet, phone, or letter form, is not the same. You may become confused and not want to be as open with me. Why? Because, due to the technology we have today it motivates people to be less interactive with others on a one on one basis. Using the "cold interface" is much easier and keeps others from seeing your "true" self which helps us with coping in stressful or embarassing situations. We use these things to block out the real world so that we may focus on the "virtual" world and withdrawal our physical selves from the human equation.
Since I possess some of the "abilities" in a mild form, I attribute it to my interaction with others. I am not a psychiastrist or mental health professional I am more of an observer and due to repeated actions and emotions I have read from being with others I can some how see how someone will react or interact based on my knowledge. BUT, there is that BUT, lol, there are inherent instincts such as the flight or fight response that we sometimes will feel without even seeing the action taking place. Sort of like a "spidey" sense, if you will. We can feel the energy change in a room without actually being able to see or hear from where the trouble may come from but you can tell something is about to happen. Why? Animal instincts are still prevelant in our make up. I can tell when a phone is going to ring, I can feel if someone is about to come over, I can tell if someone is going to be sick with in 24 hrs, I can feel when my children are upset or sad even when I am not around them. I know when things have happened or will happen before they happen. It is strange, yes, but we all have it but due to technology and the influence of being "connected" 24/7 without leaving the comfort of our home has actually dulled our senses and keeps us from actually developing the other parts of our brain that are never used. Activity, interaction with others, and reading will increase your brain power and knowledge base 10x faster than me typing to you and you reading this message. Will you know the real me? Maybe not. If you physically met me would it increase your knowledge of how othes think and react? Yes. Would you develop psychic powers due to it, probably not. These kinds of interactions and synapses must be encouraged at and early age. This means limited television and chatting on the net. Physical interaction with others of differing backgrounds and cultures. Routine exercise and a healthy diet. Laughter and crying helps as well. Teaching children empathy and patience. These are just a few factors that will help others and yourself to develope beyond what the people of the internet and technology companies would like you to think is possible.
Blessed be

Have you ever known anyone or worked with anybody who couldn't talk? I worked with cerebral palsy adults...some who couldn't talk. I spent a lot of my time trying to figure out what they were trying to save. Gave me a head ache and just about drove me nuts.
I think there is telepathy going on here.... especially with people I know on My Space Yovlle. We say the same things at the same time. I know others will say that it's just because we know each other so well...but some I don't know well and we do it. The ones I'm close to... we have some kind of telepathic bond. Makes us laugh.
