i just got a twitter and i was wondering if the alert messages from the people who i am following count as in service (Verizon) messages or if they count as other. My plan is unlimited for Verizon and 1500 for outside Verizon.

If you have unlimited texting for Verizon, it won't cost.
It's considered "in service".

It's not coming from a Verizon mobile device or their website, so yes, they'd count as out of service messages.
