You have to spread the word about it! Go out to social networking sites like Facebook and tell your friends you have a new post up. Put links in your blog that reference other sites and other blogs, and they'll frequently put one to you in return, which ups your page rank. There are also companies like Linkvana (http://yovia.com/sponsors/linkvana.html) that create links to your page from other, credible pages, which increases your rank and makes your blog come up higher in search engine results. I think they have a 5-day free trial that you can use to get some inbound links.
One more thing: make sure your blog has quality content. If you don't have good content that you update regularly, people won't bother to read it. Write about what you know and like, but make sure you post at least a couple of times a week, with pics and videos if you can. Good luck!
