YouTube. Just create an account. Put up some videos. Then, google your channel name. The point is, you'll be nearer to the top. And youtube lets you put your web addy.
Thats ONE site that is free.
Theres MySpace. Join them all and post your blog links to them. Be creative too and have fun with it.

there are several sites that can bring traffic to your site

they include web 2.0 sites like
http://www.stumbleupon.com
http://www.youtube.com
http://www.facebook.com
http://www.myspace.com
http://www.blogcatalog.com

you can also go to http://www.boardreader.com to find questions ppl may have about a topic related to your blog

also send out a press release relevant to new news articles

also visit http://www.traffic2mypage.com for more articles relating to how to bring traffic to your webpage or blog

as for software.. the problem i have with automated software is firstly most sites have captcha codes nowadays.. rendering most of this software useless.... but also there is not alot of thought in using automated mass submit programs... visitors aren't targeted and u get over inflated traffic stats but no sales!

I do like semi-automated software programs.. like article submitters.. i think they are great because they do the small tedious things like navigating to web sites to inputing data for u

but in the whole steer clear of mass automated submit programs
