New to the cell phone plans what is the difference between data and gigabytes? - Scott - 12-03-2012 09:13 PM

Looking at new cell phone plans. Have no idea what the difference is with unlimited data and how gigabytes are involved. One of the major carriers is giving unlimited data, but you have to pay for gig's. What is the difference between these two things and how do you limit you gigabyte usage so you do not have overage?

Internet usage or Data, is measured in Megabytes (MB) & gigabyte (GB). Some things use small amounts of data like twitter or facebook, while others use lots of data like movies & videos. You need to keep checking your data usage then just don't go over your limits. If you get a phone with WIFI, you can use the internet for free though the WIFI.

Data is measured in Gigabytes. Storage space in a phone is also measured in Gigabytes.

You should go to the store and have a sales associate explain to you what you read. Because what you are saying does not make any sense. Because if you are offered unlimited data, it should not matter how many gigabytes you use.
