Big strip over my nice scenic picture says
My Facebook is not connected
My Twitter is not connected
I don't want them...so how do I get rid of the notice?

You cannot get rid of it. :-(
Even if you connect to Facebook and Twitter and show it in your Profile, the white strip doesn't go away.
It is ugly and I wish they would reconsider the design of the page. Ugh!
Until they redesign, we are stuck with it.
