Why is facebook so popular? Why does it receive all the credit like if it was the best invention? - Mrs. Lettuce - 12-05-2012 11:03 PM

Why is it that people act like facebook was an excellent invention and give all he credit to it? I was researching and I saw that the first networking site was called http://www.sixdegrees.com and many others including facebook came way later. Does that mean there will be another one in the future?

The guys behind Facebook simply revolutionised networking sites.
Of course there will be. I remember using MySpace when Facebook only just emerged and thinking, "I'll make an account but will never use it, you can't even customise your profile!" Now look it Smile

Well google have come up with google+ to compete with facebook so there will be more competition soon and many more new social networking sites are bound to come as our technology gets better.

Trouble is, facebook has become so popular that it has made it not such a good thing anymore, criminals use it to know when their "friends" are on holiday so they can steal without risk of being caught, parties have been crashed by hundreds because people make public events for their friends and it becomes out of control, stalkers use it to keep check on the person they obsess over and many hours of life are wasted on it because it has become a genuine addiction since is appeals to our nature of wanting to know what is happening.

Facebook is like nothing else. It is simple and a great way for people to stay in touch. I've talked to a number of people and they say that they can use Facebook to communicate with friends for free rather than using their phones for calling and texting. It is also a great way to create online clubs and groups for social activities as well as political ideology as well. Before Facebook, social networking was mainly done through emails. I think Facebook and Twitter has become too commercialized and unless you are a fan of both, it is really annoying. Google + will be a welcomed challenge to Facebook, but I don't think Facebook will become unpopular any time soon no matter how big Google + gets.
