I intend to do use this marketing option to aid in my graphic design profession: either run my own business or aid my design profession, working in house for a corporate entity (marketing department)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

Marketing would be the way to go. If the school offers it, you'd want a program that focuses on new media. Things like social media marketing, internet marketing, email marketing etc. These mediums are much more effective than traditional mediums such as print and radio.
