Why are people so sensitive? - thegreatone - 12-07-2012 10:06 AM

The easiest example is when people on Facebook delete people from their friends list for every little thing, and most of those things aren't even something to argue about, or it is a misunderstanding. But, I'm not just talking about random people on a list on a website. I mean in general. In real life, as well as online. In your family, as well as strangers. Why do people have to argue over EVERYTHING, and take things out of context, and disown each other for every little thing (whether family or not)?

That's the way people have made it on space book, so that's how it is. It has a purpose I guess, but it is a world with it's own rules. Like you pointed out the friending and unfriending games are dumb.

We all re-evaluate our relationships in our own way. I've deleted Facebook friends when they have proven to me that they have zero interest in me. So, why should I bother with them? I've been accused of being too serious, but I think people should defiantly stand by who they are, as long as they are good people, and I think I'm good.

I deleted a guy because his Mom was in trouble, I told him, but he didn't help. Eff him. But his Mom recovered, I contacted the guy again months later, he gave me his explanation (and he didn't even notice that he'd been deleted by me, by the way), and we are Facebook friends again.

Overall, I take the word "friend" seriously, even in the term "Facebook friend". I don't want a zillion friends, so I consider seriously who I like and who I don't care for, and this is re-assessed from time to time. If there's a misunderstanding - and there have been a few - this can be gotten past through communication. Facebook is a fascinating, though incomplete, microcosm for life in a way. Yet, you can avoid face-to-face BS and confrontation.
