I want to have privacy, but would still like to be able to contact certain people. Help?

I am not that familiar with Twitter's privacy settings, but I'm fairly sure it doesn't require a picture to join. I had a Twitter for months before putting a picture on there, and the one I had now isn't even me - it's of my pets.

you don't have to put a pic of yourself :]
you can put a picture of anything, but
not nudity, or nasty stuff like that :]
