I am a fan of a lot of things on facebook so how do I un-fan someone if that makes sense.

Go to the fan page that you want to stop being a fan of. On the left hand column, scroll down until you reach the end of the column (NOT the end of the page). There should be a button or link of some sort that says 'leave fan page' or something close to it. Just click that and you'll no longer be a fan of that page!

Yes, basically what Rosie says. I'm actually doing it right now, as I type this.
Scroll down to the left hand column and it will say:
"Remove me from Fans"
Just click that.
