Ok, when I post something on tumblr, who sees it? Just people that are following me? And Do I follow people that seem to have any interest in things I like, or who do I follow? Should I try to follow all the people I can that have common interest, is that a good way to get more followers?

When you reblog, or post things, these posts show up in the dashboards (homepages) of the people who follow you. Like Facebook! Search around for blogs that you like, check if any of the people you know have a blog, and follow some of the same blogs. There are different kinds of blogs, so make sure they have things you'd like to reblog for your own blog.
Also alt+reblog(click) is a trick that you don't have to go to a new page to reblog something for fast blogging.
