On Facebook, is it possible to see if your profile has shown up in a list of search results by another user? - yahoouser - 12-10-2012 03:34 PM

On Facebook, I did a search to see if a particular band had a fan page. The search results gave me a list of three people (two of whom were in my network, but who I didn't know personally) who had listed that particular band in their "Favorite Music" section. Two minutes later, I received a friend request from one of them. An odd coincidence? Or is something else going on?

I'm fairly certain that you can't know that. On other site people have created scripts to run on their page, that, when accessed, logs the ip address (and username if possible), so that you can see who accesses your site. But because the general public doesn't have access to facebook's search engine, the same should not be able to apply in this scenario.

I think it was a odd coincidence, pretty freaky one though! When you type in something in search its look for anything you have that has what you typed, its not like you're doing anything that woudl send something to the person
