I want to a) become a fan of something and b) post something to their wall. However, I don't want everyone seeing what I wrote on their News Feed. How do I make this happen? I can't find an option for this under Settings.

Two options.
1) You could send them a private message instead of a public one.
2) On the post that shows your friends what you said in the comment, hover your mouse over it. A button should appear to the right of the post saying something like "Hide" or "Delete". Press it
Sorry if neither of these work for you, it's just what I think.
