I only have 5 friends and was wondering..when I update, do ONLY my friends see it.
How can I give myself more exposure on Twitter and gain more friends?

Everyone. But their is a setting that makes it private. so make sure that is set to public

if your account is not set to private, anyone and everyone can see your page. however those who follow you get your tweets directly on their home page (twitter feed).
