In Facebook Home, left side, there are clickable filters for groups, links, videos, etc., How do you add an application to these filters? Is it just randomly selected depending on what application you recently used? or can I manually add an application to be filtered?

You cannot add filters, it chooses the applications you will see based upon what is most prevailant on your feed at the time. I.E. If there are a ton of people posting Cafe World and Mafia Wars that is what they are going to give you as a choice. Its the top (5 i think) applications that have to most postings on the feed.
