So many of them are utterly useless bits of crap, yet lots of time and effort is put into making them.
Are developers profiting from selling Facebook users' personal data, or profiting in any other way from making them?

I'm not certain, but I'm sure they profit in some way. I personally hate the apps. Give me back my old school facebook!
