Someone asked me to send them a link on Twitter....How do I do that? How do I send a message in general?

Step 1:
Log into Twitter via the Twitter homepage.
Step 2:
Browse to the Twitter direct messages inbox, or click the "Direct Messages" link in the right sidebar.
Step 3:
Select the intended recipient's username from the drop-down menu.
Step 4:
Compose your private message. Verify the message is correct, because you can't change it once you send it. Click "update" to send the direct message.

Hey um its easy once you get the hang of it to send messages and there are different kinds of messages that you can send. I found a site that helped me out with all the different types of messaging and you should check it out it might be able to help you out as well here is the link to it and i hope that it helps you out
