How does fb chat "sent" notification work? - Alex - 12-15-2012 03:50 PM

I notice that when im chatting with a friend. At one point on the bottom of the chat window it says "sent" as well as the time it was sent. I heard that its there to let you know when your friend read the mssg. How does fb know though when someone reads a mssg?

Personally, I think that Facebook Developers spy on you everywhere on Facebook. Where it may be from chatting with friends or playing games. Maybe a developer is spying on you both and when your friend clicks on the chat box, the guy sends you a "Seen" notification. Lol. Sorry, this is the best answer that I can think of.
