Wow lots! You have SETI - which is the ongoing search for extra terrestrial life by looking for their signals in the cosmos (check out their website - http://www.ornl.gov/sci/techresources/Human_Genome/home.shtml )... You have the never ending scientific advancements in computers, networks, and even robotics! You have all kinds of research going on in the field of Artifical Intelligence (AI)... Research in a never ending stream of gadgets that make life easier and better for the average person like in electronics, automobiles, aviation (both commerical, private, and military), dentistry, etc. Pretty much every field you can think of is ever advancing! Considering where were 100 years ago its amazing and will get even more incredible as time moves forward... As things progress, it takes less time too for most advances to take place...
