Is Social work a good career? What are the different types of social work? - katie101 - 12-16-2012 03:42 PM I really want to be a social worker. I am in year 12 at college at the moment and want to to uni, is there a social work degree to do? What kind of salary is earned as a social worker ect. Any information somebody could give me would be extreamly helpful my predicted grades are ABB at the moment in sociology, psychology and business. I live in england.. i have heard they can earn up to £40,000? - ohdangletsbang - 12-16-2012 03:50 PM Well i don't know were your from but in Canada and the United States, social workers require a msw (Masters of Social Work) They are grossly underpaid seeing as they only make around 60000-70000 a year, which is relatively low if you think about the amount of responsibility and education these people have. If your not going in it for the money however, it can be a very rewarding career. You can get into addictions, child services, working in a hospital, mental health. there are LOTS of places Social Workers are needed, so there is a pretty open job market |
