SMS messaging from computor to mobile phone.? - DaveWH - 12-16-2012 07:52 PM
Does anyone know a quick and easy, with emphasis on the easy, way of sending an SMS text message from a laptop to a mobile phone? I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to messaging and am not well versed in the use of SMS, so keep the explanation as simple as possible please.

I don't know right off if google offers it in canada but gmail is capable of free sms to phones within the usa. skype is pretty cheap and allows texting to phones. Im sure if you searched for free sms messaging there would be some options.

Twitter can be configured to forward tweets via SMS
Rogers Wireless in Canada has a web page that lets you SMS their customers. They also have an email gateway that used to send SMS direct but now sends one that says "reply with READ to read your email message"
If you have another cellphone, you can connect via USB or BlueTooth and use software to tell the phone to send an SMS.
I believe there are generic SMS gateways but I don't know any offhand.
