Would/do the US service Academies look at your Facebook for admissions? - m1ndfr34k117 - 12-17-2012 02:14 PM

It's not like I have anything bad on mine but I would like to know if I need to purge my Facebook of any less than perfect things when I apply lol. Thanks

Yes, they may. I know the military has started checking facebooks so I'd take anything off you don't want the world to see.

Expect to have your facebook, yahoo, myspace, twitter, etc. checked out. They will go on line and google you as well.

Don't ever post anything that could be questionable, even if in jest. And don't post pictures of you involved in questionable activities. If others post them, make sure you remove the tags. Same with things your friends post on your site.

All of your behaviors can and will be called into question. And, even if you do get in, you need to keep everything pristine.

At our last base a group of commander spouses got in trouble for pictures they had posted from a function for them and hubbies. Was meant to be private, but it wasn't. Hubby was tagged, an official was looking at hubbys facebook, saw the pics, and all of a sudden everyone was getting phone calls.

Current base... a spouse vented about her hubby's squadron, supervisors, and commander on facebook. She happened to have a friend who was friends with the spouse of one of the folks she was complaining about. Guess who paid a visit to the 1st Sgt. office?
