Do I need to get official permission for using the website's icon in my developing application? - AnotherDay - 12-17-2012 10:21 PM

Me and my colleagues are developing an iphone app. The app is to mash up different web service like Last.Fm, Picasa, Flickr, Facebook... and tons of them. Do I need to get official permission for using the websites' icon in our developing application?

So long as you intend to link back to them, I don't think that will be a problem, but it is always good to ask; It will take nothing away from you if you ask. I suggest you ask; you will get a quick response.

Definitely ask for permission when dealing with anything that is possible copyright infringement. If you neglect to do so and the owners of those icons find out they can sue on several different grounds like confusing consumers and stuff.

You don't want to deal with that kind of problem nor can most people afford the court cases.
