How old do you have to be to open a stock market account? - george - 12-17-2012 11:01 PM

I'm 15 and I want a etrade account but not sure if I am old enough to open one I'm really interested in the stock market and think its a career I really want to pursue and are there any good website for learning the basics?

In North America you must be 18 years of age to open a brokerge account in your name.
A parent can open a custodian for you using your social security number and when you turn 18 the assets in the account can be transfered to an account in your name.

Here are some websites that may help in your learning process
Investors Hub - http://www.investorshub.com/
Investopedia - http://www.investopedia.com/
Investors Business Daily - http://www.investors.com/default.htm?fromad=1

Schaeffer’s http://www.schaeffersresearch.com/
Smart Money - http://www.smartmoney.com/
Yahoo Finance - http://finance.yahoo.com/
Zacks Research - http://www.zacks.com/
