You can still message your friends. Some xbox live games you can't buy unless your a gold member. - mr_j526 - 12-19-2012 10:19 AM You won't be able to play games online, but you can still play while connected to Xbox Live. You won't be able to join 8-person parties, but you can still do one-on-one private chats. There are certain demos and other releases that Gold members get early, but Silver members can get that stuff in around a week or so later. You won't be able to access some of the premium features like Netflix, Facebook, and Twitter.
