I am very new to twitter and don't really know how to work it yet.

clicking in the bar above where is named "messages"

click messages at the top

If your on your computer then go on the messages tab. If your on an android phone then go on me and then there's a tab that says direct messages if it has a blue dot next to it that's mean you have one. If your on your black berry the 3rd tab along is your messages icon. Hope this helps(:
